Steve Elliott announced his candidacy for Lancaster Township supervisor on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Elliott is running for the seat that will be vacated by Kathy Wasong. Wasong, who currently serves as board chair, is not seeking reelection. Elliott has been endorsed by Wasong and by board vice chair, Ben Bamford. Elliott also hopes to receive endorsement at the Lancaster County Democratic Committee’s endorsement convention on February 18th.
Elliott is mindful that municipal government isn’t about being an R or a D. On this subject, Elliott has said, “the decisions made by supervisors and commissioners, the decisions that affect our daily lives right here in our backyards and our neighborhoods, shouldn’t be politically driven.” Elliott plans to focus his campaign on the issues that matter most to the people of Lancaster Township. A regular attendee at the monthly board of supervisors workshops and meetings, Elliott knows that public safety and infrastructure improvements are residents’ top concerns. Elliott says “what I look forward to most in this campaign is knocking on doors and attending town hall meetings, talking with my neighbors, learning what concerns them, and working together to address their issues.”
Elliott earned his degree in Turf Grass Science from the UMASS Stockbridge School of Agriculture and has worked in agronomy for 20 years. He currently is employed at the Lancaster County Country Club. Elliott serves as a Democratic committeeman and is a member of the board of directors for the Lancaster Aquatic Club. In his free time, Elliott enjoys playing ice hockey, surf fishing and watching his daughters swim for LAC.
